Climate and Circular economy

Climate

Climate change and its consequences are one of the greatest challenges of our time. Ependion aims to contribute by reducing its greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Paris Agreement. Several measures to reduce carbon dioxide emissions (mitigation measures) have been identified, which are crucial for Ependion to achieve its set climate goals and ambitions. The group's strategy with a decentralized organization where sustainability issues are integrated into the various operations means that sustainability-related goals are primarily set at the business unit level. For climate, there are three overarching goals approved by the board. Goals for Scope 1–3 are also set at each business unit. All group goals are developed with the support of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) methodology. The goals are consistent with the transition to a sustainable economy, limiting global warming to 1.5°C in line with the Paris Agreement, and aiming to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.

Circular economy

Resource use and circular economy are material areas for Ependion from an impact perspective. Efficient and sustainable resource use and the implementation of circular economic principles are crucial for reducing the company's environmental impact.

Having products that last a long time and can be updated over time is an important part of the circular economy. Ependion's product portfolio consists of robust products designed for a long technical lifespan, complemented by a comprehensive service offering to improve resource efficiency and extend the products' lifespan. This positions the group in the transition to a circular economy. The transition to a circular economy takes time, but the transformation is necessary to limit climate change and reduce the overexploitation of the earth's resources. Ependion's efforts to play a role in a more circular society mean that circular principles are integrated throughout the business, from research and development to service and final disposal of the product.

Goals for resource use and circularity are set at the business entity level. Read more about what we are doing in our Annual Report.
