Ependion’s Beijer Electronics has established a strong position in the rapidly growing ballast water treatment market, recently partnering with Hyundai Welding to deliver next-generation control systems.
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has mandated ballast water treatment (BWT) systems on all international vessels to prevent the spread of invasive species and safeguard marine ecosystems. This regulation is driving strong demand: the global BWT systems market is forecast to grow at a CAGR of nearly 8% between 2025–2034, positioning it as one of the most attractive segments in the maritime equipment sector.
Beijer Electronics has established a leading position as a supplier of control and HMI solutions in this field. Recently, Hyundai Welding — a leading global provider of welding technologies and marine equipment — selected Beijer Electronics as its partner in developing its next-generation BWT control systems. The solution, built on Beijer’s HMI platform, offers superior ease of installation, lower lifecycle costs, and higher operational reliability.
Hyundai Welding delivers more than 200 units annually to shipyards worldwide, including Hyundai Heavy Industries, the world’s largest shipbuilder. Each of these units will now incorporate Beijer’s advanced technology, underscoring the company’s role as a key enabler.
This autumn, Beijer Electronics will present its latest marine solutions at major maritime conventions, reinforcing its presence in key shipbuilding markets.
